The Brennan Center for Justice at the New York University School of Law performed a study on voter fraud. The conclusion that they came to is, “There is no documented wave or trend of individuals voting multiple times, voting as someone else, or voting despite knowing that they are ineligible.” At most, it “ happens approximately 0.0009% of the time.” In their studies they found that, “In Missouri in 2000, for example, the Secretary of State claimed that 79 voters were registered with addresses at vacant lots, but subsequent investigation revealed that the lots in question actually housed valid and legitimate residences.” It appears that when a possibility of fraud is found it is, more often than not, simple clerical error.
We are now seeing in this election that there are a number of states with rather draconian laws to stop “voter fraud”. These states do have one thing in common: they all have Republican legislatures. The Washington Post had an article on Wednesday, October 3 about a judge in Pennsylvania who blocked the Republicans attempt to make it tough to vote for anyone who wasn’t likely to vote Republican. When the law first passed the Pennsylvania house, majority leader, Mike Turzai (Republican) was openly bragging, “Voter ID — which is going to allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania — done!”
Since the time of Ronald Reagan, the Republicans seem to have lost their way. They are trying with all their strength to institute nineteenth century economic laws, they have become racist, and their only goal for the past four years was to try to make President Obama a failure. Republican “luminaries” such as Rush Limbaugh, Republican senators, Ann Colter, etc., produced an overabundance of racist jokes, and innuendos… Republicans clearly showed that they had no interest in helping the American poor or middle class — only the super rich. Prior to that, their goal was to make it as easy as possible for Wall Street to screw our country. Before that their major goal was to bring our government to a standstill by trying to impeach the president. They are bereft of new ideas. They stand for nothing. They are a disgrace.
