Sweet Cakes by Melissa, a bakery in Gresham, Oregon has shut their doors.
Who? Sweet Cakes made news last February by refusing to bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple. Recently, they have decided to give up their store and bake cakes from their home. They had the following note on the store door:
“This fight is not over. We will continue to stand strong. Your Religious Freedom is becoming not Free anymore. This is ridiculous that we can not practice our faith. The LORD is good and we will continue to serve Him with all our heart. ♥”
Hmmm, “Religious Freedom”. A newspaper reporter from the Willamette Week called them and asked for a price quote to celebrate an unwed pregnant mother, and upcoming divorce, and celebrating a person who was going in to human stem cell research. It would seem to me that a lot of those items would, to a Christian, be things that should not be celebrated. Sweet Cakes, and company seemed to have no problem with any of the above and were willing to bake cakes for all. It appears that the reporter found that only thing that Sweet Cakes doesn’t like is gay marriage.
Gay marriage and gay sex are two items that are NEVER discussed in the Christian bible. So, what religion were they celebrating? I don’t think it was Christianity.
